Minister Antonio Patriota will participate in the XVIII Meeting of the CPLP Council
of Ministers in Maputo on July 18.
During
the XVIII Meeting of the Council, the Foreign Ministers will discuss,
under the
general theme of the meeting – "The New Paradigms and the Future of
CPLP in the Era of Globalization" – the prospects for strengthening the
CPLP towards its third decade of existence, the evolution of the
political and institutional situation in Guinea-Bissau,
the preparations for the II International Conference on the Future of
the Portuguese Language in the World System, and issues of food security
and nutrition.
Throughout
its 17 years of existence, the CPLP has intensified the political
articulation
between the bloc countries, which resulted in concrete action for
cooperation in areas such public health, agriculture and professional
training.
Brazil's trade flow with the CPLP member countries grew more than five times in the
1996-2012 period, from US$ 740 million to US$ 4 billion.
